Join us for the People’s Co-op of Community Acupuncture Fall 2019 conference. This fall’s POCA Fest is for punks, receptors, patient/community members, POCA supporters, students, friends and family. Last time we were at Marin we sold out and had a waiting list so don't delay!

Theme – Endurance!

By the time that this POCAfest happens Community Acupuncture will be17.5 years old. No longer are we just the new, weird, revolutionary, disruptive movement that we started out as. We still are all those things but in addition we've been around to the point where CA is a well known branch of Acupuncture. That also means that we've had a bunch of clinics that are way past their 10th birthdays and are thinking of things besides starting up like developing a succession plan, paying ourselves adequately, and hiring. Many of the breakout sessions this weekend will touch on such topics. In addition Jeff Levin, co-owner of Oakland Acupuncture Project will provide the keynote speech, “Chronic Pain, Endurance, and the Future of the Acupuncture Profession”. Please join us as we discuss and solve common issues that we all face.

Friday September 27 - Sunday September 29 2019
Friday September 27 arrive as early as 2pm to catch Friday afternoon programming which starts at 3.
We’ll say our goodbyes Sunday September 29, 2015 and depart the camp by 2pm.
*ONE DAY-SATURDAY or SUNDAY ONLY option:  9 to 6:00pm. Lunch included.

Headlands Institute is a beautiful historic military building located on the beach of the Pacific Ocean. It’s conveniently located just 22 miles from San Francisco International Airport or 30 miles from Oakland International Airport. Housing for the event will be onsite in dorm-style accommodations, with all meals provided for in a dining hall.  https://www.naturebridge.org/golden-gate/conference-facilities

Golden Gate National Recreation Area
1033 Fort Cronkhite, Sausalito, Ca 94965

How to get there

By car: check out the Headlands Institute website for driving directions.  https://naturebridge.org/locations/golden-gate

By plane: check both OAK and SFO airports for the best prices then rent a car. (Or pool together to rent a car by advertising for such in the POCAS forums) or check out this shuttle service: http://www.marindoortodoor.com

Overnight includes lodging Friday and Saturday nights and all meals from Friday dinner through Sunday lunch. The sleeping accommodations are pretty spartan: a couple of big rooms with bunk beds. You bring your own bedding like a sleeping bag and pillow. Three big rooms in fact: all-male, all- female and anyone. . There are a couple of smaller semi-private rooms that are attached to the big sleeping rooms where any families that are interested could reserve. If you are interested in a semi-private room, please email us at pocafest@pocacoop.com and we will talk.

Day only includes lunches on Saturday or Sunday.

Important Information about Families As noted above, we have a small number of semi-private rooms if you want to bring your family with you. They sleep either four or six people in bunks (like the dorm). You will need to buy a reservation for each bed in the room. So... four people in your family? You need to register for POCAfest for four people. Since there are so few rooms available, email us first to see if any are still open at pocafest@pocacoop.com

Nearby hotels For folks who want to do Day Only and who don't live in the area, there are nearby hotels. Here’s a couple with the first being an easy walk away:

Larkspur Hotel Mill Valley 415 332-5700

What to Bring

Bring a towel, bedding, sunscreen and good walking shoes. There's several great hiking paths along the cliffs and inland which you can explore as you reconnect with your comrade punks. As for the bedding, Marin Headlands provides bunkbeds and you need bedding for them!

Linen packages can be rented from the Headlands Institute for an additional $35 fee at registration. These packages include a fitted sheet, pillow and sleeping bag. Towels are not included in a linen package and there are none to rent. There are only 30 linen packages available to rent, so we ask that those driving in please bring their own linens.

What else to bring

  1. If you have a clinic, bring business cards- a mess of ‘em-to exchange with other clinics. There will be a table laid out for this. Remember!  We are all in this together! Support the other POCA clinics by using the cards to refer patients!
  2. T-shirt exchange! If you area clinic with t-shirts that you’d love to exchange for t-shirts from other clinics, bring ‘em! Its always fun to see all the different t-shirts we’ve made.

Vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options available. Indicate your food needs in the event registration form. Among the various sites that we've staged POCAfests in, Marin Headlands provides maybe the best meals of all.
