Similar experience with David

Hi Viola,

I had a similar experience with David. If you click on the node link in my message (below), you’ll find the details. Contrary to David, I have had excellent customer service with Jon Buffington

Jon Buffington, Payments Consultant
Manager
Applied Merchant SystemsA Capital Payments
Company

737 North Michigan Ave. Suite 2020
Chicago, IL
60611

and the teck support folks have been very responsive. So far, it’s only David that’s been awful, and I’m very happy with my new system.

interesting

and disappointing to hear that.  Thanks Steve for posting the contact info for someone who is more helpful.  They’ll definitely be hearing from me…

Someone may have already spoken with David

He called me last week asking if I had any questions. I’m set up, so I didn’t have any, but I suggested he be more proactive with others, making sure their intro letters are sent out and the equipment arrives, etc. I hope he takes my advice.

David

Hi Viola,

I just spoke with David and he seemed to have some valid reasons why it was difficult for you two to connect.  Seems like the east coast/west coast time difference may have been one of them as well as his being on vacation.  I am sorry you had a hard time but I do think that their customer service is still very promising, especially compared to most merchant service companies.  I hope that people will still keep trying, and sharing their experience with Capital here in this thread.

thanks

ellen

Customer Service Improvement, and a good idea…

I just wanted to update everyone as to David’s performance. He’s gotten
much better about contacting me and responding. Now, I’d give this guy a
“thumbs up”. Here’s his contact information, which he wanted everyone
to know:

David Teska
Account Executive
Applied Merchant Systems

630-702-9405 Cell
312-224-0586 Direct
800-675-6573 Main
312-640-0294 Fax

Also…for those of us taking credit cards, I suggest you establish a new checking account only for receiving card transactions. No need for checks to be printed. It’s just a holding place for you. Then, periodically move the money you’ve received to your business checking account. Why do this? To more easily track the receipt of your payments and to protect your business account from being accessed and drained by an accidental (or illegal) refund.

$11.95 PCI compliance fee?

has anyone else recieved this notice in their statement? they are saying we are required to sign up for this trustware thing and that our account will bebilled an additional $11.95 per month! david tesca mentioned nothing about this when we set up the account and the notice we got says that this regulation has been in effect since 6/1/10 - our account started in july. i have a call inot david, but haven’t heard back yet.

I spoke with David a short while ago…

He is looking into the PCI fee and will update us asap.

Also, I noticed two tiny fees on my statement - one from Visa, the other from Mastercard, for using their service. I asked David to please avoid letting other charges creep into the CAN agreement which, for each retail transaction, is 1.69% of the transaction amount plus 20 cents. And for Internet payments, it’s 2.19% of the transaction amount plus 20 cents. There’s a $10 monthly fee, too.

David said that he can’t remove those fees, but he will  lower the “20 cent” charge to “18 cents”, which will more than offset the Visa/Mastercard amount.

I called David and he just left me a vmail in return

He mentioned that Ellen just wrote him in an attempt for them to
connect and discuss the CAN contract. He will be following up with
her.

Regarding the PCI (Payment Card Industry) compliance charge, some clinics already received charges on
their statements, others did not. Going forward, this will be a required fee mandated by the PCI Security Council. Normally, it’s $11.95/month. David said we’ll be charged his
“at cost” rate of $6.95/month.

I hate having yet another fee associated with credit/debit card processing. However, card use is really catching on at my clinic so I’m going to continue providing the service.

Possibly, he’ll have more details to share through Ellen.

Virtual terminal possible with the CC processing deal?

I’m considering signing up for the deal, but I need to have a virtual terminal.  Running cards through a machine is not going to work with my practice.  Is it possible to process the credit cards on my computer with this deal?  Is anyone doing this?  Thanks so much….Lindsey

Apparently it is possible.

That’s what the guy told me when I talked to him. However, the transactions fees are higher.

PCI compliant fee…

I just talked to David and he clarified the PCI issue.  Apparently Visa/MasterCard just made this fee mandatory a month ago.  It protects against hacking, so it’s a good thing.  In the history of PCI compliance, there has never been a security breach.  If there are other companies who are advertising no PCI compliant fees, they are lying and hiding those fees.

Capital is not going to make any money off of anyone affiliated with CAN - they are only going to charge us what it costs them - $6.95 per month - and we would have to pay at least that with whatever company we deal with.  It’s just new that it’s mandatory.

so that’s that…. let me know if there are any more questions.

thanks Ellen

so we have instructions on our bill to go to the pci/trusware website and sign up for this / attest our compliance. do we each need to do this now? i assume that applied merchants then will charge us the 6.95 and that we will automatically not be charged the 11.95?
