Just a quick note.  The link on the blog post to Oregon’s website doesn’t work (as of right now when I clicked on it).

I get

This site can’t be reached

http’s server DNS address could not be found.
DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN

Will update later if it resolves itself.

I will try to fix that.

August 31.

However, we’re in a big push to get as many responses as possible before July 1st, because a puzzling coincidence occurred…

Back when we were first designing our JTA, we planned it for a year when the NCCAOM wouldn’t also be doing a JTA. They do theirs every 5 years like clockwork: 2008, 2013, 2018. We were planning to complete ours in 2017; we hit a couple of logistical snags and we were just proceeding along at our own pace. And then, out of the blue, we heard that the NCCAOM had pushed their own JTA up by a full 6 months!

Mystifying.

According to our psychometrics consultant, a big issue with JTAs is survey fatigue: people don’t like filling out surveys and they don’t like being asked multiple times. You wouldn’t want to plan to have 2 in a single year. Of course these 2 surveys are very different, and we were certainly not framing it as a competition, but when we found out about the change in the NCCAOM’s schedule, our psychometrics consultant urged us to get our own JTA rolling ASAP.

There you have it. The plan is to focus our outreach efforts over the next 2 weeks, and then spend the remaining couple of months rounding up stragglers, the way we’ve historically done with the POCA Annual Survey. So if you have energy to spend urging other acupuncturists to share their data, please consider putting it into action very soon. Thanks!
