PATIENT/COMMUNITY MEMBERS

Join POCA as a Patient/Community Member if you already receive or would like to receive treatment at a community acupuncture clinic, or if you want to support the creation of more clinics to provide affordable acupuncture -- for you, for your family and friends, and for all communities that don’t yet have access to acupuncture.  Your membership supports the growth of the community acupuncture movement.

When you join POCA as a Patient/Community Member, you receive:

'Sticking Together', the POCA co-op newsletter which will keep you up to date on new clinics opening nationally and internationally;
Three free first treatment cards for your family and friends, which will allow them to experience community acupuncture at any POCA member .
One complementary treatment to celebrate your birthday.
New patient fees waived at all POCA member clinics.
The ability to support POCA with your time and talents by volunteering for one of POCA’s many committees and projects, or by providing hands-on support to your own local community acupuncture clinic.
The ability to vote in POCA elections and to have a voice in the development of the cooperative.

In our current economy, health care consumers have virtually no power. By joining POCA, you become much more than a consumer; you become an active part of a new and more just economic foundation for the delivery of acupuncture.

Membership fees for Patient/Community Members: sliding scale $25-$100

ACUPUNCTURIST/STUDENT MEMBERS

Join POCA as an Acupuncturist/Student Member if you already provide, or are learning how to provide, affordable acupuncture as a resource to your community.  Your membership supports the growth of the community acupuncture movement.

When you join POCA as an Acupuncturist/Student Member, you receive:

Access to the famously comprehensive online forums for community acupuncturists, where you will find an inexhaustible fountain of information and support for setting up a community acupuncture clinic, and the new CA101 Wiki—all the best on the fundamentals of starting and running a community acupuncture clinic in wiki format;
'Sticking Together', the POCA co-op newsletter which will keep you up to date on the progress of the community acupuncture movement, as well as providing more support and information for your practice;
Three free first-treatment cards for your family and friends, which will allow them to experience community acupuncture at any POCA member clinic.
One complementary treatment to celebrate your birthday.
The ability to support POCA with your time and talents by volunteering for one of POCA’s many committees and projects, or by providing hands-on support in a local community acupuncture clinic.
The ability to vote in POCA elections and to have a voice in the development of the cooperative.

POCA is designed to provide many different levels of support to acupuncturists and students in order to help them to create as many successful community acupuncture clinics as possible. Here is an overview of the kinds of support you can receive through POCA:

Regional Node Meetings. Join acupunks -- both clinic owners and workers -- for in person support, fun and shop talk. These meetings are for students and prospective/new/existing CA punks at all stages of growth.
In-person trainings given throughout the country by experienced clinic owner/operators. These one and two-day workshops are geared towards students and potential CA clinic owners, as well as practitioners that have recently started a clinic, or started working at a CA clinic. One and two day trainings can also be a refresher for existing clinic owners/workers.
Semi-annual national CANferences held in different locations around the country. The breakout sessions of the conferences are focused more on the challenges and stages of growth faced by existing clinics and address issues related to employment, growth, systems for high volume, etc., as well as plenty of time for social connection and support.
Other support is embedded into the many online and virtual meeting places of CAN and POCA, including the Welcome Wagon, Live Support, the Forums, Facebook pages for regional groups, and through your participation in these.

Membership fees for Acupuncture/Student Members: sliding scale $65-$200

ORGANIZATIONAL MEMBERS

Organization Members join POCA because they support the transformational nature of a multi-stakeholder cooperative. Besides providing affordable acupuncture to patients and jobs to acupuncturists, POCA supports the economic development of the acupuncture profession. Many different organizations -- such as acupuncture needle companies, continuing education providers, or anyone with an economic stake in the success of acupuncture – will ultimately benefit from POCA’s development work, and we encourage them to join POCA as Organization Members in order to support that work.

Organization Members receive the opportunity to advertise in 'Sticking Together', the POCA co-op newsletter and to market their goods or services to POCA members, as well as the ability to vote in POCA elections and to have a voice in the development of the cooperative.

Membership fees for Organizational Members: sliding scale $100 to $1000+
