“ It does not matter how slow you go so long as you do not stop.”  Confucius

for many of us, being part of CAN or becoming a CA has been transformative. Some of the great clinic success stories of CAN seem to fall together as fast as you can read the blog entries.

I knew it when I googled "community + acupuncture" in 2006 and found the WCA site, that the brainwashing had begun. I had the typical soil and some grime.

But I was ba-practicin' part time and running a local coffee hang out fulltime and being daddy. DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME. you end up working both ends of the autonomic nervous system.

PostMarch 2007 CAN Training: So, Some how this was going to happen and I had just lost the lease on the bapractice space. Along comes the itinerent Chiropractor, who also needs a space. At first, I regretted it...Let's say their art is more dynamic and involves talking portions. I grew to appreciate not only splitting the rent and power but also trials and tribulations of making a living in healthcare.

And WOW, I had first 3 chairs, then 5, and now 8 chairs and 2 tables, I was getting busier! I had one volunteer receptionist for saturday mornings, occasionally, but the business plan and SOP was grinding along but gettingdone , tapping out stuff after 930pm is shore to slog things out. >>>> back to the WOW, it is totally a thrill to have a bunch a folks cooking at once and then ...they come back for more and more  and and and stuff.....and I am paying most of the bills

>>>>It is also  exciting to be working out all the marketing ideas, crisp treatment strategies,  and even employee manuals (really!)

late 2008 is rollingdown, Well the chiro has changed directions is now driving somewhere far for work......Rent increase, I have 2 parttime receptions, I see about 40+/week. the math is weakening

the folks want more hours/days.....and I need a break     so WALL ST helped out Main St

the practice slowed, I realized I needed another me, a partner.

Mind you I had a handful of suitors........but they just wanted me for my body, er um, for a job to see if this community thing really worked.......it just made blink alot

I now I think I have a partner and soon news comin'

but back to the title

I did not want to write a heroic war story...

even tho that makes me cool (but I'm 42 so who even cares )

I want to encourage the slow transformers,

doing business while reframing your class identity and unlearning school-bought treatment thinking  can be a struggle  and a joy

take your time and do it right, mostly,

    .

very nice post. funny that you wrote this post when you did. i have been going through a big tightening of my own reigns this past week as i begin my last year in school. realizing my plan has been: finish school then galavant around india for a month or two, then come back and open up a big thriving CA practice. hard reality is….hmmm….no more loan money pretty soon, can i even pay rent on an apartment let alone go to india let alone open a huge practice?!

    baby steps.

i also just received this email from a vedic astrologer friend of mine that sheds some more interesting light on this whole idea:

Planet in focus: Jupiter in Capricorn

The Big Switch: On December 10, 2008 Jupiter entered into
the sign of Capricorn where it will stay in it until Dec. 19, 2009.
Jupiter will also enter Aquarius briefly from May 2, 2009 - July 31,
    2009.

Jupiter is the planet of abundance, opportunity,
spirituality, faith, and broadening one’s horizons among other things.
It is naturally connected to the sign of Sagittarius and Pisces in
Vedic Astrology.  For all of 2008, Jupiter was at home in Sagittarius.
This seemed like a great placement to many.  However, Jupiter can be
the planet that in the right sign, if you give it an inch, it will take
a mile.  In its own sign of Sagittarius during 2008, it seemed to have
created some over-confidence and even bombastic behavior at times.  It
wants to go as far as possible, but many times is lacking a plan of how
to manifest and maintain its dreams.  Planning is Saturn’s job.

    As
Jupiter now makes a big switch and enters into the Saturnian and sign
of Capricorn, we are being asked to pull back on our over-zealous
attitudes towards almost everything!  Jupiter in Capricorn is
considered “debilitated” - it doesn’t like to be there.  It’s
restricted.  It can’t travel.  It can’t do all the expansive things it
would like to do, that are part of its nature.  Its enthusiasm and joy
are being checked.  It’s being asked to see things for how they
“really” are: not always exciting and fantastic, but that
sustainability requires hard work, patience and sacrifice.  Being slow
and steady, honoring process and having a Capricornian/Saturnian “prove
it” attitude are what this year may require to make change happen.
(Aquarius is also ruled by Saturn in Jyotish, so the spring and summer
months will bring similar energy but will most likely offer more hope
and the vision that things can and will change.)

    Simply
looking through the lens of this new Jupiter placement, it is clear
that this year will be challenging for all: we all have to take a firm
step back, assess what we experienced and released in 2008, and decide
what seeds of opportunity are worth investing our time, energy, and
resources into.  To manifest this requires focus, a firm plan and a
sound budget - something Capricorn is excellent at, and something
Jupiter can benefit from.  Rahu, which is traveling alongside and
influencing Jupiter, also benefits from forced focus and planning.
With Jupiter’s foresight and Capricorn’s focus present this year, we
will get there, one step at a time!
