Fall Membership Drive is Here!

In one week, on October 1, we’re starting another membership drive, for a month.  To recruit punk and patient members, clinic and org members.  Why?  Because we’ve been able to achieve SO MUCH this year, and we want to be able to do more.

This year, we made 3 micro-loans to start-up clinics.  One in February, to Lisa B of Guelph Community Acupuncture in Ontario, Canada.  We are so proud to have been instrumental in the startup of this clinic, and we in the Finance and Membership Circles watch, as you do, the progress of this lovely new clinic.

We just completed two more micro-loans, one will be Grass Valley Community Acupuncture in GV, California.  You’ve already seen Renee K of GVCA on the forums and many of you have interacted with her.  The other micro-loan has not been disbursed yet, but is a partnership in an underserved area in the Midwest.

We (the volunteers of the Finance Circle) are so thrilled and proud to have been able to make these low-interest loans (two with the help of a donor, and the third with funds from POCA’s membership), and we want more people to have safe affordable acupuncture.  So we’re asking you to help.  More members means more support for cost-effective acupuncture.  More members means a better, stronger co-op.  More members in your community means a stronger clinic as well!

300 new memberships @ $25 = $7500, the amount of a start-up micro-loan.  If we can generate just ONE new member from each existing clinic, we’ll have enough revenue to provide one more start-up loan.  If we can come up with TWO members per clinic, that’s TWO loans.  Imagine, that’s like building new clinics with your own hands!

We have requests for clinics literally EVERYwhere: https://www.pocacoop.com/forums/viewthread/6357/  .;
Of course we still need punks to start the clinics, but as you may have heard (how could you not), we’re starting a school!  So in a few years, we’ll graduate punks from a low-cost school, be able to provide low-cost (currently 4%) loans, and voila!  Unlimited expansion!

If you’re a clinic owner or punk, is your membership current?  Can you spend a few hours a week talking to patients and community members about POCA?  Will you print out some flyers for your clinic?  Maybe you can find a volunteer member to work on memberships a few hours a week throughout October?

And hey, it’s not just for the benefit of POCA.  There are some serious benefits for members.  Three free treatment cards to give out to friends and family, free treatment for your birthday, paperwork fee waived at all POCA clinics so you don’t have to pay extra for acupuncture when you go on vacation (although you do still have to fill out new paperwork!).  And most of all, being a member of the POCA family, being able to volunteer to help in clinics or in POCA, getting the monthly newsletter, participating in the forums, and sometimes even POCA-Members-only specials at clinics.  It’s fun to be a part of POCA!

(I was closing this post, but wanted to tell you that we already put up posters in our clinic – we always put one in the bathroom, for reading material.  And we’ve already had at least two patients join POCA.  They don’t know unless you tell them, that this opportunity is available.)

    If clinics want to target local media, there is both a clinic generic press release and the basics for media outreach about half way down in this thread: https://www.pocacoop.com/forums/viewthread/6337/

    The funds for the other micro-loan have now been disbursed to Point2Point Community Acupuncture in Delaware Ohio.  They will begin seeing patients in October.

    I’ve decided that the focus of MAS’s Facebook posts for the month will be different facts and facets of POCA, with the logo accompanying it each time to breed more familiarity with who we are and what we do. We’ll still mention our own specials and news, but with a strong focus on teaching our FB community about POCA. Feel free to borrow the idea! smile I’ll add some more about this to the thread I’ve put in the forums about Facebook. smile
